Bella Neergaard

Neurodiversity Facilitator and Educator

I translate neurodivergent lived experience — making the invisible parts of autism, ADHD and late diagnosis easier to recognise, understand and relate to.

Neurodivergence under the surface

So much of what we are taught about neurodivergence focuses on what can be seen from the outside: traits, behaviours, diagnostic criteria and support needs.

My work is interested in what sits underneath.

What does masking actually feel like?

Why can someone manage something one day and struggle with it the next?

What happens in the body before we even realise we are overwhelmed?

Through education, storytelling, lived experience and embodied practice, I help make these less visible experiences easier to recognise — both for neurodivergent people themselves and for the people who live and work alongside them.

Ways to work with me:

  • For Neurodivergent Individuals

Spaces, resources and practices for neurodivergent adults trying to create a life that works with their messy brain and body (not against it).

  • For Workplaces and Professionals

Educational presentations for organisations who want to better understand neurodivergent experiences and feel more confident supporting them.

A different way of understanding neurodivergence

My approach moves beyond understanding neurodivergence only through diagnostic criteria or what can be observed from the outside.

I translate neurodivergent lived experience through three interconnected lenses.

Rigid → Relational

Neurodivergence does not exist in a vacuum.

Our needs and capacity are shaped by our environment, relationships, expectations, stress and the support available around us.

Observed → Felt

What we see from the outside rarely tells the whole story.

I look beneath visible behaviour to the inner experience underneath — sensory load, hidden effort, masking, bodily signals and the cost of appearing to cope.

Categorised → Human

Neurodivergent people are more than diagnostic criteria, stereotypes or generalisations.

Through lived experience, stories and everyday examples, I bring the focus back to the person behind the language.

The goal is not simply to know more about neurodivergence, but to recognise it more deeply.

About Bella:

I’m a late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD educator, facilitator and peer practitioner based in Copenhagen.

My work brings together lived experience with professional peer practice, academic research and years of facilitating groups, presentations and body-based practices.

I hold a master’s degree in Cross-Cultural Studies from the University of Copenhagen, where my research explored autistic women’s experiences, and I currently work professionally with neurodivergent adults through peer support and education.

Across all of my work, I am particularly interested in the experiences that are difficult to see from the outside: masking, hidden effort, fluctuating capacity, late diagnosis, burnout and the relationship between brain, body and environment.
